Speakers: Lord Richard Chartres & Baroness Rosie Boycott, Peers for the Planet

Hear from two speakers from the House of Lords’ climate action group, Peers for the Planet! We will be joined by Lord Richard Chartres who led the Church of England’s campaign to shrink their Carbon footprint between 2006 and 2017 when he retired as Bishop of London. We will also we joined by Baroness Rosie Boycott who served as Chair of the London Food Board from 2008 – 2017, advising the Mayor of London on sustainable food policy implementation in the capital, and is active in the Lords speaking on a range of issue from food and health to the importance of tackling biodiversity loss. This is a must watch for students who are passionate about tackling the twin crises of climate change and biodiversity loss!

Speaker: Dame Vivian Hunt, Senior Partner, McKinsey & Company

Dame Vivian is a globally recognized thought leader on productivity and skills, leadership, and diversity topics. She was previously named ‘the most influential black woman in Britain’ by the Powerlist Foundation and The Financial Times identified her as one of the ‘European Women to Watch’ and more recently as the 30 most influential people in the City of London. Vivian will be sharing advice on how we can make the most of the opportunities around us and is looking forward to answering your questions.

Speaker: Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather

Would you like to know more about consumer behaviour? Are you are interested in behavioural science and economics? Rory works with a consulting practice of psychology graduates who look for ‘unseen opportunities’ in consumer behaviour – these are the very small contextual changes which can have enormous effects on the decisions people make – for instance tripling the sales rate of a call centre by adding just a few sentences to the script. If you would like to know more about the contextual tweaks that transform the way that people think and act, then this is the talk for you!

Speaker: Sarah Breeden, Executive Director, Bank of England

We’re excited to welcome Sarah Breeden, Executive Director of the Bank of England. Sarah is currently responsible for supervising over 500 UK banks, building societies and credit unions and she also leads the Bank of England’s work on climate change. She has been lucky enough to work on lots of fascinating issues while at the Bank – including Covid, Brexit, managing the Great Financial Crisis and the policy response to that crisis. Sarah will be speaking about the risk that climate change poses to financial institutions and reflecting on her experiences of driving action on climate change forward.
